Robonaut
I suppose featuring a song about Robonaut doesn't really fit the theme of this collection of songs. If you look at the story of Robonaut, you would learn that it is a robotic space traveler created at the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center in Houston TX, with the intent of one day piloting spacecraft into the heavens and beyond..... No ties what so ever to my journey through this world....
But with that said, the song "The Robonaut" represents a significant event in the timeline of my musical life!
I had the desire to begin learning to play the guitar at a higher level, and learn to create multi-track recordings, as I've always been fascinated by that technology. I had played a little acoustic guitar earlier in life, but my voice was now completely gone, as I'm sure whiskey and beer have taken their toll on my vocal chords. So my songs were going to be instrumental only.
I really didn't know how to do this, so I began to do research on the internet, trial and error with different systems, blew up one computer, and on to the next..... and on and on......
After about 5 years of experimenting and learning how to operate the DAW software, and figuring out how to set up and manage my own recording studio at home, I was ready to take on my first real musical project called "Space". This was a compilation of interesting stories with a Space theme, as interpreted in song.
But at the start of the project, the song Robonaut was the first song that I incorporated all of the DAW technologies that I had compiled and learned, along with my guitar, that met the requirements of a publishable track.....
I remember when I first completed the song, mixed it down, and then listened to it through my headset -- I got a little shiver up my spine......
Because I knew that at that moment, after 5 years of learning how to do this stuff, I had just crossed over the fence and into the infinite world of music creation........
