Hewett Street
Hewett Street is the street that I grew up on. It was, and still is the main road leading through the small town of Neillsville, Wisconsin, in the heart of the Midwest. This amazing street is a compilation of 3 different highways all coming together for a brief two mile stretch and running right past our old house.
When you began your journey down Hewett Street from the south, tall Elm and Maple trees greeted you, with their robust canopy creating a mesmerizing display of light and shadow as they draped their massive branches over the street below. Soon, you would crest a large hill as the street headed towards the downtown area, with stunning views of Neillsville Mound off in the distance. Your journey would end downtown, which was an exact vision of "downtown USA", with a drugstore, a hardware store, a grocery store, and of course, a tavern at every corner!
Being the main street in town, there was a constant stream of cars and trucks rumbling on by. We would sit out on our front porch and watch the kaleidoscope of vehicles rolling up and down the street. I was always amazed at how many times the same car would drive past....... I guess, in a small town, with nothing much to do, might as well cruise up and down Hewett Street....

The song "Hewett Street" was originally a Jam Track that I created to practice guitar scales in the key of "B". But I liked it so much that it became a song. It has a bit of that "cars rolling by" energy to it, and I suppose it could go on forever - Just like Hewett Street.......
